Renal FailureRenal failure, or kidney failure, may be acute or chronic depending on the medical issues involved in the condition. Acute kidney failure can result from injuries, surgical complications, drug overdoses, and chemotherapy. Chronic renal failure can be caused by diabetes, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, and overuse of certain drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, cocaine and acetaminophen. Renal failure can lead to the accumulation of waste products in the body and blood that can lead to other complications with additional side effects and symptoms.
