Renal Failure

Renal failure, or kidney failure, may be acute or chronic depending on the medical issues involved in the condition. Acute kidney failure can result from injuries, surgical complications, drug overdoses, and chemotherapy. Chronic renal failure can be caused by diabetes, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, and overuse of certain drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, cocaine and acetaminophen. Renal failure can lead to the accumulation of waste products in the body and blood that can lead to other complications with additional side effects and symptoms.

Possible symptoms of renal failure include:

• Bad Taste in Mouth
• Build Up of Phosphates in Blood
• Build Up of Potassium in Blood
• Cysts on Kidneys
• Dehydration
• Diarrhea
• Difficulty Sleeping
• Difficulty Urinating
• Elevated Levels of Urea in the Blood
• Fatigue
• Foamy or Bubbly Urine
• Frequent or Less Frequent Urination
• Greater or Lesser Amounts of Urine
• Loss of Appetite
• Nausea
• Nocturnal Urination
• Pain
• Pale or Dark Colored Urine
• Reduction of Erythropoietin
• Shortness of Breath
• Skin Darkening
• Swelling
• Vomiting
• Weight Loss
