Neuropathy

Neuropathy is a category of disorders and diseases of the peripheral nervous system caused by nerve disease or systemic illness. Causes of neuropathy include diabetes, leprosy, syphilis, injury, toxins, and vitamin deficiency. The four patterns of neuropathy include polyneuropathy, mononeuropathy, mononeuritis multiplex and autonomic neuropathy. Some examples include carpal tunnel syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and shingles.

Possible symptoms of neuropathy may include:

• Abnormal Blood Pressure
• Changes in Heart Rate
• Disturbances of Bladder and Bowel Control
• Impotence
• Inability to Focus Eyes
• Loss of Reflexes
• Loss of Sensation
• Muscle Atrophy
• Muscle Twitching
• Pain
• Paralysis
• Weakness
