Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease, is also known GORD or acid reflux disease. The common condition is associated with chronic symptoms or mucosal discharge produced by the abnormal reflux in the esophagus. Factors that may lead to GERD include obesity, smoking, pregnancy, medications, and certain foods.
